It’s been a while since I last packed my toothbrush, sleeping bag and guitar and set off for Germany. The time has finally come! I will be touring Germany for two weeks in May together with David Katapult and Simon the Levi. No strings or horns but we will be taking some keyboards, drums and other toys to make it an epic show. Looking forward to seeing you there!

I’ve recorded a sequel to my british boarding school drama from last year and it’s called, “The Lonely Mountains”!
I recorded this with over thirty people in a few different livingrooms and I’m really excited to release this at you this month. It is available to pre-order right now over at Snowstar records and will be out officially on the 28th of february.

I played some really nice shows this month with my friends from Rue Royale. We had the whole band a long on the road for a few days: clarinet, flute, trumpet, bass, keys, drums, cello. It was great. To celebrate this short tour we had each recorded a new song and released this on a split cassette. We still have some left so I’ll put them up on the webshop as soon as I have some time. We have black, white or clear tapes. (Black is definitely by far the most cool though).

It’s about the City of Dead in Cairo, Egypt.

We will be taking a long with us an 8-piece band consisting of drums, bass, clarinet, trumpet, flute, keys, violin and cello. It’s going to be a special set where we’ll be backing each other on a lot of the songs.

Rue Royale are Brookln and Ruth Dekker. They started the band in Chicago a few years back but moved over to Nottingham in order to be able to tour Europe full-time. On their second night of their first EU tour ever they played a houseshow with me in Groningen where I was living at the time. We’ve been friends ever since!

I was really lucky to have the talented Joost Stokhof from www.thethingsweare.com, work on some artwork for “Ancient Crime’. We wanted to make a design that fitted with the feeling and the story of the album. Well, just take a look for yourself, we even got a real goodlooking guy to model this beauty:

It’s an amazing festival that’s held each year on the island of Vlieland. There are stages all over the island so you might find yourself getting lost in the woods having just seen Angel Olson and trying to get to Reggie Watts over at the lighthouse.

I got off the boat thursday night and went straight to the “Forest stage” to play a show with two fantastic songwriters Tim Knol and Maurits Westerik.

I was on the same stage the next night with Tsjebbe Hettinga, an amazing poet from Friesland, the Netherlands. Both of us did a version of “Dorp aan Zee” by Jacob Slauerhoff.

Accompanied by a full band he performed the song ‘Tors’ of his latest effort ‘Ancient Crime’ which will hit stores tomorrow. The album is already available as a download through Bandcamp and iTunes.

Please visit the tour dates section if you want to catch Kim live. His upcoming string of dates will kick of with Fridays release party at Ekko, Utrecht. On Saturday Kim will play high quality festival ‘FabriQ‘ in Den Bosch along artists as Chad Vangaalen, Damien Jurado, Idiot Wind and Luik (and many more).
